Getting Started

  • How do I get set up on Carrot Rewards?

Let’s get started! If you haven’t already, download the Carrot Rewards app to your iPhone, iPad, or Android phone or tablet.

Once you’ve downloaded the app, tap the green “GET STARTED” button and create your account by entering your first and last name, your email address and a password, and accepting the Carrot Rewards terms and conditions.

Next you’ll need to answer a few basic questions (postal code, age, and gender) that will help us send you more relevant content. The Carrot Rewards program is currently only available in British Columbia, Ontario, and Newfoundland and Labrador, but we are working hard to bring Carrot to all Canadians soon!

If you have a bonus code (for example, if a friend invited you to Carrot and shared their personal bonus code with you) enter it here, and hit “submit”. If you don’t have a bonus code, hit “next”.

Pick your loyalty program, and enter in your card number for that loyalty program. If you are not yet a member of any of the loyalty programs that are partnered with Carrot, you can create an account now.

You’re done! You can now complete your first offer, and start earning points!

  • How do I invite friends to use Carrot?

You can earn extra points by inviting your friends to use Carrot Rewards. Just go to the “Invite” tab in your Carrot app, and you will be able to find your personal bonus code. Hit the green “SHARE” button to share it in a text message, or on social media. When your friend signs up to Carrot and enters your personal bonus code during the signup process, you will earn extra points (and they will too).

Alternatively, you can select “Invite by email” and select users from your device’s address book and invite them individually. When they sign up to Carrot with the email you indicated, you will get extra points. If you invited a friend to use Carrot by email invitation, you will receive your points when a Carrot account is created with that same exact email address.

Please note that a user can only be referred by one person, and that in order for you to earn points for referring them, they must enter your personal bonus code within a few days of signing up to Carrot.

  • Is there a limit to the number of friends I can invite?

There is no limit to the number of friends you can invite. The more people you invite, the more rewards you have a chance to earn!

  • Choosing or changing your rewards card number

Please note that for security reasons, you cannot have more than one Carrot Rewards account on your device, and that a rewards card can only be linked to a single Carrot account.

Your rewards card number can be updated or changed at any time. To change your card number, go into the Account page and tap the arrow next to your current points options. Select “Add a new card”, chose your points option, and enter in your credentials. Once you have validated your new rewards card, all new points earned will be deposited into the card that is now live. You are able to switch back to the other cards you have on record at any time.

Carrot Rewards will always deposit the points you have just earned to the card that is currently on selected in your Carrot Rewards account, and we cannot move points or miles collected on a previous rewards card number into a new account.

If you aren’t a member of any of the rewards programs that currently partner with Carrot, you can create an account with any of them for free:

  • What are Carrot Rewards offers, and how do I earn points?

Carrot Rewards sends you offers on a regular basis, in the form of quizzes or surveys. They are designed to educate and empower you on various health and wellness topics. Offers generally take 2 to 5 minutes to complete.

Our offers are written in collaboration with sources you can trust, such as the provincial Ministries of Health, the Heart and Stroke Foundation, Diabetes Canada, the YMCA, Natural Resources Canada, and other government and NGO partners.

Your first offer will be “Welcome to Carrot” and is an introduction to the program. Subsequent offers will cover topics about physical activity, healthy eating, mental health, environmentally friendly behaviour, and much, much more.

In general, a new offer will be made available every week. If you have enabled push notifications, you will receive a notification on your phone to let you know that a new offer is available. iOS users will also see a notification on the app icon when a new offer is available.

You can complete as many or as few of the offers as you like! The more offers you complete, the more points you earn! When you complete an offer, make sure that you have a stable internet connection, since some offers include a video or a linkout to an external website that can earn you extra points.

  • I sent an invitation to my friend, when will I receive my points?

When you invite a friend to Carrot by sharing your personal bonus code with them, you receive points when your friend signs up to Carrot and enters in your personal bonus code during the sign-up process. If they forgot to do so during signup, they can still go to the “account” tab in their app, and enter in your personal bonus code during the first few days after they sign up.

If you invited a friend to use Carrot by email invitation, you will receive your points when a Carrot account is created with that same exact email address your entered. If they sign up with a different email address, Carrot Rewards is unable to match them back to you and cannot grant you the points for inviting them.

In both cases, you will receive your rewards as soon as your friend confirms his or her email address through the welcome email they receive from Carrot. You will receive an email notification as soon as the address is confirmed, notifying you that rewards have automatically been deposited in your account. If you do not receive this email and all above steps have been followed, please check your Junk and/or Spam folders. You can view the status of your invitations at any time in the Invite menu under View Invitations.

Carrot Rewards is currently available to users in Ontario, British Columbia, and Newfoundland and Labrador. We are working with the Canadian federal and provincial governments to make Carrot available across the country. If Carrot is not available in your province yet, it means that we have not come to an agreement with your provincial government. Feel free to contact your local MLA in order to speed up this process. You can refer them to this page for more information.
